Staffing Professionals is currently recruiting experienced Paediatric Intensive Care Nurses to work on a locum basis within a leading NHS hospital in East London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled and supportive PICU team, caring for critically ill children in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Job Description
As a Locum Paediatric ICU Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering specialist care to infants, children and young people requiring intensive care treatment. You will work closely with consultants, paediatricians and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Duties will include:
• Providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill paediatric patients within the PICU
• Monitoring and assessing patients with complex and acute conditions
• Managing ventilated patients and assisting with advanced life support where required
• Administering medication, IV therapies and specialist treatments safely and accurately
• Working alongside consultants, doctors and allied healthcare professionals to develop and deliver care plans
• Supporting and communicating sensitively with parents and families during difficult situations
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records and documentation
• Ensuring all infection prevention, safeguarding and clinical governance procedures are followed
Requirements
• NMC Registered Nurse with a valid and active PIN
• Minimum 6 months’ recent UK experience within Paediatric Intensive Care / PICU
• Experience caring for ventilated and critically ill paediatric patients
• Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS), EPLS or equivalent is desirable
• Excellent communication, clinical judgement and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
